Germán Gutiérrez


Maestro Gutiérrez received his Master in Music degree from Illinois State University, where he served as concertmaster and assistant conductor of the I.S.U. Symphony Orchestra. He received his Doctor of Arts Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1997.

Maestro Gutiérrez is a frequent guest conductor of professional orchestras in South America such as Orquesta Sinfónica Nacionalde Lima, Perú, O.S. do Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, O.S. Nacional de Colombia, O.S. de Barranquilla, O. Filarmónica de Bogotá, and Orquesta Sinfónica del Valle in Colombia. While in the United States, he has conducted many orchestras, such as various All Region Orchestras, the Greeley Philharmonic, Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

He has also conducted the Auckland Philharmonic of New Zealand. In September 1998, Maestro Gutiérrez was named the Best Musician of the WestO-Plex by the Fort Worth Weekly magazine. Maestro Gutiérrez is the Music Director of the Greater Fort Worth Youth Orchestras Program, received the 1999 Dean's Teaching Award, and in 2003 the Chancellor's Award for Research and Creative Activity.
