Pianist Zhang Cheng’s committed and expressive music making in his playing has already earned him much success and recognition. He is a prizewinner in the 11th Hong Kong-Asia Open Piano Competition, the Hong Kong Tchaikovsky Piano Competition, the Schmidbauer International Young Artist Piano Competition Junior Division, the Zhou Guangren Piano Summer Institute concerto competition, twice in the Piano Texas International Academy & Festival concerto competition, as well as a winner of the Texas Christian University School of Music’s Concerto Competition.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the TCU Symphony Orchestra and the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra. He has also played in numerous master classes given by artists such as Paul Badura-Skoda, John O’Conor, Menahem Pressler, Andrea Bonatta, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Nelita Ture, Arie Vardi and Piotr Paleczny. His major music festival participation includes Piano Texas International Academy & Festival, Texas; Qingdao Music Festival, and the Zhou Guangren Piano Summer Institute, China.
Born in 1989, Zhang Cheng developed a love for music at an early age in China. From the age of 12, he studied in the Shenzhen Arts School with Professors Lu Mei, Li Jian, and Dan Zhaoyi. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of music degree at the TCU School of Music as a recipient of the Nordan scholarship under the tutelage of Tamás Ungár.
